Privacy policy & data flow
This page describes the current website and the documented MonkViewer connection design. It is not a claim that all network metadata is private.
This website
The website has no analytics scripts, advertising, account system, forms, or application cookies. Its content is served by Cloudflare. Cloudflare processes web requests, including IP addresses and request metadata, to deliver and protect the website. Hosting infrastructure may retain operational logs. See Cloudflare's privacy policy for its practices.
Your devices and connections
MonkViewer stores device identity and pairing information on your devices. Paired sessions encrypt screen, audio, and input traffic end to end. A paired device can control the host, so remove devices you no longer trust. Operating system permissions and local identity storage differ by platform.
What a relay can see
A relay forwards session ciphertext rather than decrypted screen or input contents. It can see public keys, key identifiers, IP addresses, packet sizes, and timing, and can drop or delay traffic. New installations include the DigitalMonks public relay at relay.monkviewer.com; its bootstrap link is public. A private relay link contains a shared secret granting access to that relay's discovery and bandwidth — keep that secret private. Possession of either link does not replace device pairing. Saved relay settings let you choose your own relay or disable relay use.
The DigitalMonks public relay keeps a server log of connection events: the time, the IP addresses of the computer and of the device connecting to it, and the computer's key code. It does not log session contents, which it cannot read. A relay you run yourself writes the same log on your own server.
Local network discovery
LAN discovery is unencrypted and exposes local discovery metadata such as host name, screen size, busy status, and host identifier on the local network. End-to-end session encryption does not hide the fact that devices communicate.
Security limits
The cryptographic design and implementation are not independently audited. A paired device can control the host; remove devices you no longer trust. Relays and others on the network can drop or delay traffic. Operating system privacy permissions and the protection of identity files on each device remain important. This page does not promise a particular release or independent security certification.
